A question and answer session by Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders at a US college was cut short on Tuesday after ‘the tone of the event began to turn nasty’ and some of the several hundred students ‘began jeering’, news agency AP said on Wednesday.

Wilders had been invited to show his video compilation Fitna to students at Temple University in Philadelphia by a student body called Temple University Purpose. The trip was paid by the California-based David Horowitz Freedom Center, AP said.

During his speech, Wilders stated that ‘our Western culture is far better than the Islamic culture and we should defend it.’

He also said a resolution co-sponsored by the US and Egypt deploring attacks on religions while insisting that freedom of expression remains a basic right was a ‘disgrace’ and criticised president Barack Obama for his efforts to extend a hand to the Islamic world, saying that such appeasement marks ‘the beginning of the end’, AP reported.

The students are victims of the American Education System of Political Correctness in which ‘celebrating diversity’ is the primary function of civic life. We now have a really sick society, I’m afraid.

First of all, time spent on a university campus is time wasted since “education” is no longer what our campuses offer. Every year, I have to participate in “selecting” new recruits from the latest graduating classes. These days, over 85% of university graduates cannot pass a literacy exam we use to “process” those graduates (usually Political Science, Communications or English Literature grads) who think they can work as “writers”.

I don’t like sounding like an old grouch, but I generally dismiss whatever spews outta the mouths of anybody under 30 years old, and take with a “grain of salt” what I hear from the under-40 crowd. This includes politicians.

Interestingly, my own four kids are all university garduates (from institutions in Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic) and work in Canada “managing” people who would have been their peers had my kids not read the writing on the wall and decided to study abroad at universities which still actually offer educations.

If my comment upsets you, then take the bull by the proverbial horns and go and renew your education in one of the countries mentioned. You’ll be surprised at the WELCOME you will receive by corporate Canada as well as Canadian federal and provincial civil services. You’ll kick-start your own career and double your former salary within 18 months of your return with a “genuine” education.
